Bentonite is a clay mineral primarily composed of montmorillonite, known for its unique properties including plasticity, bonding, suspension, adsorption, and cation exchange capacity. It is widely used in foundry, drilling fluids, building materials, papermaking, and civil engineering industries .
 
The HCVRM vertical roller mill is an advanced grinding machine integrating grinding, drying and classification into a single unit. Engineered specifically for high-moisture bentonite feed (up to 15–35% moisture content), this energy-saving vertical grinding mill delivers superior fineness (up to 2500 mesh / 5μm) while significantly reducing power consumption and maintenance costs.

Our bentonite grinding mill introduces hot air (up to 400°C) directly into the grinding chamber, simultaneously drying and grinding the material in a single step—eliminating the need for a separate pre-dryer. Final product moisture is stabilized at ≤1% .

System Composition

A complete bentonite vertical grinding system consists of the following units:
1. Feeding system: Surge bin, vibrating feeder and belt scale to deliver materials uniformly and stably.
2. Vertical mill main unit: Grinding disc, grinding rollers, reducer and hydraulic system.
3. Powder separator: Adopts dynamic-static combined structure to precisely control the fineness of finished powder.
4. Drying system: Hot blast stove (available in gas-fired, oil-fired and coal-fired types) that can supply process hot air up to 400°C.
5. Dust collecting system: Pulse bag filter, which collects finished powder and treats flue gas dust to meet emission standards simultaneously.
6. Control system: PLC centralized control system for real-time monitoring of all operating parameters of the whole equipment.

Working Principle
The motor drives the grinding disc to rotate through the reducer. Raw materials fall onto the center of the grinding disc via the feed inlet, while hot air enters the mill through the air inlet. Driven by centrifugal force, materials move towards the edge of the grinding disc and get crushed by the squeezing force of grinding rollers when passing through the annular grooves on the disc.
 
The crushed materials are lifted by high-speed airflow at the air ring on the edge of the grinding disc. Large particles fall back to the disc for regrinding. As airborne materials pass through the dynamic-static separator, rotating blades send coarse powder back to the grinding disc for secondary grinding. Qualified fine powder is carried out of the mill by airflow and collected by the powder collecting device as finished products. Moist materials are dried during contact with hot gas to satisfy the required moisture content of final products.
